ED is a problem most men will experience to some degree in their lifetime – an exception being patients on hormone replacement therapy, who are more prone to healthy, active sex lives.
ED, also called impotence, is the persistent inability to get or sustain an erection strong enough to allow for sex. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may have ED:
– Trouble getting an erection
– Trouble sustaining an erection
– Reduced libido / sexual desire
Men who have trouble achieving an erection more than 50% of the time are probably suffering from ED, and can benefit from treatment.
What causes ED?
ED is caused by several factors, including alcohol and exhaustion. But more long-term sexual performance problems are often brought about by heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, low testosterone, prescription medications and restricted blood flow (arteriosclerosis).
The great news for our patients experiencing ED is that treatment typically aligns well with, and is complemented by, our hormone optimization programs.
