      • Pierce the vial with the syringe needle.

      • Push the excess medication back into the vial, stopping at your prescribed dose.

    1. Select the Injection Site

      • The most common injection site is the area within three inches around your belly button.

    2. Inject the Medication

      • Pinch an area of fat around your belly button.

      • Insert the needle and push the syringe until it is empty. Note that for a 5/16 inch subcutaneous injection, angle adjustments (45 or 90 degrees) are not necessary.

    1. Withdraw the Needle

      • After waiting 2 to 3 seconds, gently pull the needle out.

      • Put the cap back on the syringe.

    2. Address Any Bleeding

      • If there is a small amount of blood, do not be alarmed.

      • Use an alcohol pad on the injection site and gently massage the area with your thumb for 10 to 15 seconds.
